PETERSBURG, Va. – UPDATE
The lockdown at Virginia State University has been lifted.

At 2:20 a.m., VSU Police tweeted, "Police have cleared the scene. Officers will remain vigilant."
The shooting happened on Hayden St. around 11:05 p.m. Thursday.
The man who had been shot is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
At this time, Chesterfield County police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the campus.

The university's police department tweeted, "Shooting On Campus - Go/Stay indoors. Avoid area. Police on scene. Campus on lock down."
This is the second shooting within a week at the university.
