100 Miler walk helps participants continue new year's resolutions

ROANOKE, Va.

Every year, hundreds of people in the valley celebrate the start of the new year by accepting the Roanoke 100 Miler challenge.

This year 150 participants came together for the 100 Miler kick-off event at the Altus Chocolate store in downtown Roanoke.

Throughout the challenge, participants will receive weekly encouraging emails with wellness tips.

Organizers hope this will help people feel excited about getting healthy.

“I hope that this impacts the community to bring everyone together and feel like they can make a long-term goal and achieve, said Avalon McMullen, organizer of the event.

The next 100 Miler event will be on trampolines at the Launching Pad Trampoline park Feb. 1.
