2 people sent to hospital in multi-vehicle wreck on Rt. 419

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. - 10:30 a.m. UPDATE

A Hyundai sedan was traveling south on Route 419 toward Tanglewood Mall when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto Colonial Avenue. A Ford Ranger traveling north on Electric Road and the Hyundai hit each other head-on. 

Subsequently, a Chevy Silverado in the southbound lane on Route 419 waiting to turn left onto Colonial Avenue was hit by the Ford Ranger.

There were two people in the Hyundai and two people in the Ford Ranger. The driver in the Chevy Silverado did not have any passengers. The drivers of the Hyundai and Ford Ranger were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the Hyundai is charged with failure to yield. The driver of the Chevy Silverado is charged with not having a valid license.

UPDATE

The scene is cleared and traffic is now moving.

Emergency crews are responding to a crash in Roanoke County that sent two people to the hospital Tuesday morning. 

Two trucks and a car were involved in the crash at the intersection of Route 419 and Colonial Ave. 

The 911 call came in at 7:59 a.m., according to dispatchers.
