ROANOKE, Va. – Dozens attended the annual Lee Plaza Memorial Day Service in downtown Roanoke on Monday.
The ceremony started with the national anthem, followed by a few words from Rep. Bob Goodlatte.
Ret. U.S. Navy Capt. Gary Powers, a Roanoke native, addressed the crowd, speaking of the importance of this day.
