Roanoke City Police are searching for a suspect after a hit-and-run in the Valley View Mall parking lot.

Police said around 1:15 Saturday afternoon, officers near the mall were attempting to stop a vehicle being driven by a black man. They said the man ignored the officers, who were on bikes, and fled the area.

As the driver was leaving the area, he struck an occupied vehicle and a pedestrian walking in the parking lot.

The pedestrian was sent to Carilion Roanoke Memorial with head and leg injuries.

The vehicle driven by the black man was later found in the mall parking lot unoccupied.

Police are still investigating the incident.
