The cooling station is located at 724 Dale Avenue and is open to the public.

“This is being done out of our concern for those in our community that are affected by the heat the most: senior citizens, children and those with health-related problems,” corps officer Captain Andy Seiler said.

The Salvation Army said there is no registration necessary.

“The Salvation Army does this at many of its locations across the U.S, and we are happy to provide this service to the Southeast neighborhood of Roanoke,” Seiler said.

The Salvation Army in Roanoke is located just a few blocks from Elm Avenue in Southeast. More information is available by calling 540-343-5335.
