Good Samaritan Hospice seeks more participants for annual hike

Hospice Hike set for Sept. 10 at Explore Park

The third annual hike for the Good Samaritan Hospice is fast approaching at Explore Park.

Organizers of the hike say this is an important event as all the funds raised from the hike will go to support and enhance the hospice's bereavement program.

The program serves families and individuals in the Roanoke Valley who are coping with loss and grief.

Participants can choose between an easy and intermediate trail.

Organizers are hoping the number of participants will increase from last year.

"Last year, we had 165 hikers. We are hoping to double that this year, if possible. We really want this event to be a big celebration. This is also a good opportunity for people to learn about hospice. We will have our staff there. Participants can ask questions and know what services we offer to the community," said Mary Renwick, director of development at Good Samaritan Hospice.
