Goodwill Industries gets new sensory room to help those with disabilities

New sensory room features special lighting, music, furniture

ROANOKE, Va. – Goodwill just got a new sensory room that will help those with disabilities.

The new space is equipped with special lighting that changes colors every few seconds.

It also has music, furniture and other items that allow the user to bridge the gap typically experienced through the limitation of movement, vision and other barriers.

“It will enable people we serve to have a relaxing experience. It will also allow them to get away from over-stimulation that they may experience,” Stephanie Hoer, senior director of program services at Goodwill Industries, said.

The new room was made possible from the generosity of an anonymous donor.
