Hollins University graduate wins Miss Virginia in Roanoke

Cecili Weber put on the crown Saturday

Cecili Weber is the 2017 Miss Virginia.

ROANOKE, Va.

There is a new Miss Virginia.

Cecili Weber won the crown Saturday night at the Berglund Performing Arts Center in Roanoke. She will now go on and represent the state in the Miss America competition this fall.

"I'm beyond excited and humbled by this opportunity," Weber told WSLS 10 Sunday. "It was such a surprise. In my crowning video, it's a lot of tears but also just pure excitement."

Weber is from Ohio and came to Virginia to get a degree from Hollins University.

“I could not have done this without the university's support, without the education that I got there and just the support of the Roanoke community at large, my friends and family here,” she said.

Weber won the Miss Arlington crown. She competed there because she has family in that area. She says her focus this year will be on youth leadership. She will also receive a $20,000 scholarship.
