Police: 70-year-old Roanoke man bound while apartment set on fire

ROANOKE, Va. – A 70-year-old Roanoke man told police someone bound his hands and feet before ransacking his apartment and setting it on fire. 

Omarr Romance-Lomax Martin, 20, of Roanoke, is wanted on malicious wounding and arson charges.

Police responded to the fire at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday in an apartment on the 2800 block of Colonial Ave. SW.

The victim said he was assaulted by an acquaintance who demanded money before tying him up and ransacking the apartment. The man then poured a liquid inside the apartment and set it on fire, according to police. 

The victim had several lacerations to his head and had to go to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. His current condition is not known.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire. There is no damage estimate at this time.
