Police identify man they say was shot in the face in Roanoke

Shooting happened just before 11 a.m.

ROANOKE, Va. - Police have released the name of the man they say was shot in the face on Wednesday morning.

Police say a search warrant was conducted at an apartment that the victim, 20-year-old Ahmandou Kabba, of Roanoke, ran into after being shot in the parking lot.

A handgun, lots of drugs, as well as money were seized from inside the apartment, police say.

No arrests have been made and police say the investigation is ongoing.

Police are investigating after they say a man was shot in the face Wednesday morning.

At 10:52 a.m. Roanoke police responded to a shooting at 703 Hunt Avenue N.W.

When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old man who had been shot in the face.

He was in the breezeway of the apartment building and was conscious and talking to officers.

Police say the man had little information about the person who shot him.

Witnesses told authorities the suspect left the scene in a silver SUV and drove south on Hunt Avenue towards Liberty Road.

The victim was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

Police are responding to a shooting in Northwest Roanoke on Wednesday morning. 

It happened in the 700 block of Hunt Ave. at the Afton Gardens Apartments, close to the intersection with 8th St. 

Police confirm that one man was taken from the scene with gunshot wounds. There's no word yet on his condition. 

Police have not yet named any suspects.
