Roanoke airport launches new art exhibit

Airport plans to feature work from 19 counties it serves

Betsy Bannan's "Valley Overview" is currently on display at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport

ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport has launched a new program to display local art.

The Art in the Airport exhibit features local talent's work on the second floor of the west side of the terminal building.

The airport plans to request art from one of the 19 counties it serves each quarter. 

Right now, pieces by Roanoke artists Betsy Bannan, Gerald Hubert and Susan Oller are on display.

“This art initiative is a great way to feature the exceptional talents of our local artists. These works allow the airport to partner with the community and expose the many visitors to the airport and region the talents of our community,” said Timothy T. Bradshaw, A.A.E., executive director of the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission.

This art showcase runs through Sept. 14.

The paintings displayed are available for purchase directly from the artist but must remain in place until the showcase ends.
