Roanoke Police participates in National Family Violence SWEEP Day

Officers spend day serving outstanding domestic violence warrants

ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke City Police is participating in the National Family Violence sweep day Thursday.

This is an initiative where a team of officers spends the day serving as many outstanding domestic violence-related warrants as possible in the city of Roanoke.

The outstanding warrants include all domestic violence-related offenses, protective order violations, failure to appear in court, non-payment of child support and harassment.

“Our focus is to enhance the safety and well-being and peace of mind to all those involved in domestic violence issues,” said detective Frank Leftwich, at the Roanoke Police Department.

More than 1,500 law enforcement agencies are participating across the nation.
