ROANOKE, Va. - While many are getting ready for Thanksgiving, the Roanoke Rescue Mission is already kicking off its annual toy drive so children in need will have presents to open on Christmas Day.

Each year, the Rescue Mission aims to collect thousands of toys from around the community, not only to give to the children at the shelter, but also to give to children in need throughout the region.

“We need baby dolls, Barbie dolls, coloring books, trucks, puzzles and books for all ages, and make sure that those older children, in fact, have a good selection to choose from as well,” said Stacy Boris, special projects coordinator at the Roanoke Rescue Mission.

If you'd like to donate, you can drop off toys in the red boxes placed in the lobby of the Rescue Mission.
