ROANOKE, Va. - A Roanoke student is facing assault and abduction charges after a fight at a high school.

Police say the fight happened Thursday during lunch inside a girls' bathroom at William Fleming High School.

Police would not specify how many students were involved.

A police spokesman said the student didn't allow the victim to leave the bathroom.

Principal Archie Freeman sent a robocall out to parents stating the following:

This is Archie Freeman, principal at William Fleming High School.  I want to advise you that there was a serious fight in the girls’ bathroom during lunch today.

This type of behavior is unacceptable and I can assure you that we have dealt with it swiftly and appropriately.

Please call me if you have concerns or questions.
