Suspect arrested in North Carolina

ROANOKE, Va.UPDATE

Roanoke police have released the name of the 37-year-old man who was killed in Roanoke Sunday and say the man they believe is responsible has been arrested in North Carolina.

The body of Corey Tyrone Brown, of Roanoke, was found in the 600 block of Lucerne Street NW on Sunday morning.

Police obtained a warrant charging 45-year-old Byron Lamont Brandon, of Roanoke, with second-degree murder. 

Police say that Brandon and Brown were acquaintances.

Brandon was arrested in Greensboro, North Carolina by the Greensboro Police Department's Violent Crime Apprehension Team.

The investigation is ongoing.


UPDATE

Roanoke City Police say they are investigating a homicide in the 600 block of Lucerne Street Northwest.

After collecting evidence at the scene and interviewing a witness, police have a suspect.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was taken to the medical examiner's officer for an autopsy.

A body was found Sunday morning in Northwest Roanoke.

Roanoke police say they're investigating after a call came in at 6:25 a.m. about a body on Lucerne Street.

They say the victim had a gunshot wound.
