An old fire hose has also been painted pink and hung in the shape of a large ribbon on the front of the station.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Station 6 C-shift Capt. Tim Duffer said the hose and the hydrant have gotten a lot of attention.

"It makes us feel proud that we can support breast cancer awareness," Duffer said. "It has affected us as a department, both members and family members."

Firefighters are also wearing special pink T-shirts all month long to further help raise awareness about breast cancer.

The money raised from firefighters purchasing the shirts goes to the Danville Cancer Society or other local cancer programs.
