Danville woman, 62, shot in hand and arm

DANVILLE, Va.UPDATE

A search warrant for the address where police say a 62 -year-old woman was shot in the hand and grazed in the arm is revealing new details about the shooting.

The warrant say investigators collected two guns, two bags of marijuana, a green backpack, and two swabs of a red substance from 137 Hughes Street.

As of Thursday, no arrests had been made.

Danville police say the 62-year-old woman shot Monday night was shot during a home invasion and robbery.

Between 10 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Monday night, two men forced their way into a home in the 100 block of Hughes Street and demanded money, according to police.

Shots were fired and the 62-year-old was shot in the hand and grazed in the arm.

Police did not specify Tuesday if the woman was in the home.

A cellphone was stolen during the robbery, police said.

One suspect is described as being approximately 6'4" with clean-cut hair and a beard.

Police say he had a gun.

The second suspect is described only as short and muscular.

They left the home on foot, got into a dark-colored SUV and drove away.

Danville police are looking for answers after a 62-year-old woman was shot in the hand and arm. 

Around 10:50 p.m. Monday, officers responded to Sovah Health to speak with a woman who was being treated for gunshot wounds. 

The woman, who is not being named at this time, reported that she was shot in the 100 block of Hughes Street. That's near the intersection with South Main Street. 

The woman is expected to be OK. She did not give police any information about the person who shot her.
