Family and friends continue to remember Emma Layne

Layne was last seen June 17

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va.- – Friends and family of Emma Layne said they will not rest until she is either found or her killer is brought to justice.

Many gathered Friday night at Republican Grove United Methodist Church for dinner, prayer and a candlelight vigil for a third time to remember Layne.

She was last seen June 17 at Cody Convenience Store, where she worked.

Last month, human remains were found near her house, but have yet to be identified. Mechelle Pollard was one of her closest friends and had known her for 20 years.

"We want to know what happened to her and we want whoever done it to be punished," said Pollard.

People signed a guest book, shared memories and played songs in remembrance.

Those who organized the vigil said it was also a time to show appreciation to the media and friends who continue to support and help in the search for Emma.
