Little Caesars hands out free pizza at Danville food bank

Company anticipated serving around 400 people

DANVILLE, Va. – Dozens of people in Danville got a free meal Tuesday thanks to a pizza company.

Little Caesars handed out free slices of pepperoni pizza to people at God's Storehouse.

Each person got two slices.

Feeding America Southwest Virginia provided drinks and fruit for people.

This is part of Little Caesars' national effort to give back, which began in 1985.

Jacob Pierce was one of teh first handful of people to receive pizza Tuesday.

He was very thankful.

"It's a great thing that they actually do this for everybody. There's a lot of hungry people. A lot of people need to eat. It's awesome that a big company like this would take the time to do this," Pierce said.

Little Caesars' area director, Chris Belcher, was also thankful.

"I've been with the company for about 16 or 17 years and we've never done anything like this (in Danville) that I've seen them do. So, it's pretty awesome," Belcher said.

The company was in Roanoke Monday and planned to be in Farmville Wednesday.
