MARTINSVILLE, Va. - The Martinsville Fire Department will be sending more money than planned to help a fire department in Texas impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Over the weekend, Martinsville volunteer firefighters held a fundraiser and raised $8,156.48.
Their original goal was $5,000.
Usually, money from the fundraiser, which is held twice a year, is used to help fund the department but because of Hurricane Harvey the firefighters decided to give the money to help those in need.
