MARTINSVILLE, Va. – A Martinsville man accused of shooting his wife multiple times is waiting to find out if he'll be committed to a mental institution.
Friday, a judge declared Rickey Hairston not guilty by reason of insanity.

A report will now be issued to the state behavioral health commissioner within 45 days.
The commissioner will determine if Hairston will be committed or granted conditional release.
Hairston's wife survived the shooting.
