No one injured during fire at Goodyear plant

DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Fire Department responded to a fire at the Goodyear plant Monday evening.

Crews were dispatched at 6:06 p.m. for a reported fire in the Banbury unit.

The lead of the Goodyear Emergency Response Brigade advised Danville fire crews that there was a fire in a Banbury unit and it had extended towards the roof by way of the duct system.

The ERB had been working to contain the fire for approximately 40 minutes prior to the Danville Fire Department's arrival and needed assistance.

The fire was mostly contained by a deluge system in the duct system.

There was no significant damage and production will not be affected by the incident, according to Goodyear.

The DFD responded with four engines, one ladder truck and four support vehicles. A total of 21 personnel remained on scene for nearly an hour and a half. There were no injuries.
