Police: Fugitive Martinsville City Jail inmate may be with his girlfriend

Dekey Penn walked away from his work detail Sept. 13

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - The Martinsville Sheriff's Office has identified a person fugitive inmate Dekey Penn may be with.

In a press release Thursday afternoon, the sheriff's office said Penn, 33, may be with his girlfriend, Lantonya (a.k.a. Latoya) Turner, 32.

The release also stated that Penn is believed to still be in the Martinsville area.

He is described as an African-American man, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds. He frequently changes the color of his hair and was last seen with it partially dyed blond.

Turner is described as an African-American woman, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds.

On Sept. 13, Penn jumped off the city garbage truck he was riding on as part of his inmate work detail and walked away near the intersection of Fayette and Beaver Street.

The Martinsville Sheriff's Office, Martinsville Police Department, Virginia State Police, and the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Taskforce continue to search for him.
