DANVILLE - Preparations are in full swing for one of the biggest festivals of the year in our area.
Danville's Festival in the Park is this weekend.
It runs Friday through Sunday.
Around 60 vendors are scheduled to be set up in Ballou Park and the city's parks and rec department expects the festival to draw a couple thousand people.
It is the 43rd year for the festival.
There will be arts and crafts vendors, rides and food trucks.
The number of food trucks has been reduced this year to create more eating room and there will an increased focus on kids this year.
"We try to bring something new to the event every year," said Danville Parks and Rec communications director Russell Carter. "So, we're brining some new children's entertainment. Inside the building, we'll have a teen art show. We'll also have a talent show."
Gates open at 4 p.m. Friday.
