Radial continues to grow, looking to hire nearly 2,000 employees

Southside company holding job fair Saturday

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Around 600 full-time employees currently work to keep the boxes and totes full of products rolling around Radial.

But 600 is no longer enough, especially with the holiday season, the company's busiest time of the year, about to begin.

Kim Smith Glisson is the company's operations director.

She said it could be the busiest holiday season for the company to date.

"It's a much busier (holiday season) this year," Glisson said. "Our clients, the great thing is, retail is booming, especially in the e-commerce world."

The company, which packages and ships products ordered online from 17 different companies, is hosting a job fair this weekend.

It is Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 307 Hollie Drive in Martinsville.

About 20 more full-time employees need to be hired.

About 1,800 seasonal employees also need to be hired. Many of those may be able to stay on as full-time employees after the holiday season.

"We've doubled in size over the last three years. For example, just to kind of put it in perspective, in 2012 we hired approximately 600 to 700 seasonal associates and each year that's gone up by 200 to 300."

Tammy Lane is a full-time employee at Radial and says she loves knowing that the company is growing, especially when growth means hiring additional help for the holiday season.

"(The holiday season) is my favorite time of the year. The more the merrier. It's wide open, (there's) always something to do; something to keep you busy," Lane said.

With e-commerce only growing, that may be more true than ever this year.
