Renovations nearing completion at Danville senior living community

Project has been a year in the making, cost $3 million

DANVILLE, Va. – Some seniors in Danville will soon have access to better care.

A year-long, $3 million renovation project at the Stratford House senior living community is almost finished.

The work included updating the concierge area and the residents' rooms.

But, the biggest part of the renovation is the creation of an 18-room memory care center to help people dealing with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

It is expected to open in November and staff at Stratford House say residents are excited.

"They know that there's some family and friends that may need our community, so they're excited to be able to share this new space with them and they're excited to have a new space," said sales and marketing director Mary Klatt.

A ceremony was held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm. Tuesday to celebrate the work.
