HENRY COUNTY – The SPCA of Martinsville and Henry County is offering a reward after two puppies were found in a landfill.
While someone was getting rid of trash, on Saturday, the SPCA says the person found the two puppies emaciated and malnourished and brought them to the SPCA.

The 5-month-old puppies weighed 13.6 and 14.6 pounds, at least 20 pounds underweight for their breed and age, according to the SPCA.
The SPCA says it rushed both puppies to an emergency veterinarian, where it was determined that the two were in late stages of starvation, having possibly ingested toxic chemicals.
Tests later came back negative for any type of toxic agent and the puppies have since responded to treatment.
The SPCA is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for abandoning the puppies.

The SPCA says its critical care fund has been severely depleted by the cost of caring for these puppies. As of yet, there is no projected release date from the veterinary hospital where they are housed.
The SPCA is seeking donations to the fund so it can continue to provide care for the puppies as well as other in-need animals.
