Trial date in Gretna teen's suspected murder to be set next month

Suspect Joey Fondaco denied bond Monday

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. – The man charged with killing a Gretna teen in 2016 was denied bond Monday.

Joey Fondaco had a bond hearing Monday in Rockingham County circuit court.

He is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, Hailey Moore.

Moore was a freshman at James Madison University when she was found unresponsive in Fondaco's apartment in November 2016.

She died a short time later at a hospital.

Her death was ruled a drug overdose.

Fondaco is scheduled to be back in court on Oct. 16 to have his trial date set.
