ROANOKE – We will find out today who the Virginia Teacher of the Year is. Eight teachers from each region are in the running. The teacher from our area is Karey Henzey, a special education teacher at West Salem Elementary in Salem. The candidates submitted portfolios highlighting their accomplishments, educational philosophies and community activities. A panel, including classroom teachers, professional and educational associations, and the business community interviewed each person and the final decision will be announced tonight in Richmond.
The first Constitution Week at Liberty University kicks off at the Center for Law and Government. The weeklong program will include an exhibit and a series of moderated panel discussions about the Constitution. All of the events are free.
