Round Town: Christmas weekend

Events happening this weekend

Mill Mountain Theatre presents A Christmas Story.  It's based on the film from 1983, featuring the leg lamp.  There are shows night through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee Saturday at 2 p.m.  Tickets start at $20.

Martina McBride performs at the Berglund Special Events Center Friday night.  The 14 time Grammy nominee will make a stop on her Joy of Christmas Tour.  The show starts at 8 p.m.  Tickets start at $49.

See the glow of downtown Buchanan on Christmas Eve as it set up luminaries on Main Street.  The luminaries are gallon jugs which were recycled from the flood of 1985, when people donated water to the town after its water supply was cut off.  The town will begin to glow at 6 p.m.

The Community Holiday Light Show continues through Christmas Day at Danville's Ballou Park.  Displays for the show are made by people and groups in the community.  The lights are on from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.  Admission is $7 per car.

Enjoy Christmas lights from the warmth of your car in Galax.  High Country Lights continues this weekend with thousands of lights, choreographed to your favorite Christmas tunes.  The lights are on nightly from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Felts Park.
