Round Town: Halloween fun

Some of the events happening Round Town this weekend.

The Vinton Farmers Market is home to the final Party in the Park of the season. Jim Quick and Coastline will provide the entertainment. There's also food, beer and wine. Gates open at 6 p.m. with the music starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $6.

Ferrum College hosts the Blue Ridge Folklife Festival. There will be three music stages, food, vintage farm tractors, mule jumping contests and more. Admission is $10 for adults with children and seniors getting in for $5. It's Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Salem Farmers Market is home to Pumpkinfest on Saturday. Kids can trick or treat with local merchants from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Then, stick around from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for carnival games, a costume contest, pumpkin auction and more.  

The Patriot Players at Patrick Henry Community College presents Into the Woods. It follows a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child, Cinderella wants to attend the King's Festival and Jack wants his cow would give milk. Everyone's wish is granted, but their actions return to haunt them later. There are shows Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $20 at the door.

Head to Comic Con at New River Community College in Dublin. The event features artists, authors and dealers from the New River Valley and beyond. There will also be panel discussion on Marvel originals, African-American superheroes and more. Admission is $2. It's Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sweet Briar College is home to Amherst County Day. There will be animals, face painting, food trucks, music and more. It's Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
