Round Town: Holiday parades and festivals

Events happening Round Town this weekend.

Get in the Christmas spirit at the Grandin Village Holiday Children's Parade.  Watch as group stroll by, bringing holiday cheer.  The jolly old elf, Santa Claus, will make an appearance as well.  The parade is Saturday at 11 a.m.

Santa Claus stops in Southside at the Martinsville-Henry County Christmas Parade.  The theme for this year's event is "An Art-filled Christmas."  The holiday cheer begins at 5 p.m. in Uptown Martinsville.

The Berglund Special Events Center is home to Brew-HaHa.  It's a fall beer and comedy festival, supporting animals.  Two dozen breweries will be there as well as vendors and food trucks.  Proceeds benefit spay and neuter programs at Mountain Valley Humane.  It's Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Admission starts at $26 with designated drivers getting in for $11.

The Thomas Jefferson Wine Festival returns to Poplar Forest.  The festival celebrates Jefferson as the father of Virginia wine.  More than a dozen wineries will be there.  Tickets are $30 at the door with designated drivers getting in for $10.  It's Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Bassett High School Band Boosters holds its annual craft show this weekend.  Nearly 150 vendors will be there, selling crafts and baked goods.  It's Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the school.  Admission is $2.

Mark the start of the holiday season in the Alleghany Highlands at Kriskindlmarkt.  The German style Christmas market features shopping, entertainment and the lights and scents of Christmas.  Admission is $2.  It's Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Mill at Clifton Forge School of the Arts.
