Appomattox (WSLS-10 Sports)-  They are one win from back-to-back titles.

The power of one--14-0 Appomattox needs only to topple 13-1 Richlands to repeat as the group 2A champ..

They will tee it up 4:30 pm Saturday at Salem Stadium in search of their 30th consecutive win.

They hold the longest current the VHSL. ( The state record stands at 53 straight wins)

Coach Doug Smith says his team carries an unselfish attitude--as they play for the community that supports them.

"When they go and play, they don't feel like they're playing just for themselves. They're playing for someone else, they're playing for their teammates, they're playing for the community. I just think a lot of times that separates your average teams from your great teams, it's not just about me, " explains Smith.

The Raiders will battle Richlands in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday from Salem Stadium. Riverheads opens the days action against Sussex Central for the Group 1A crown.
