WHITE SULFUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - The sixth year of the Greenbrier Classic arrived Monday and it was a day for golfers to get reacquainted with the Old White TPC Course.

The resort is somewhat of a destination stop on the tour for many as they appreciate more than just the golf course.

"It's so good up here, we're getting great weather, great resort, great golf course and they take care of us," said golfer Heath Slocum as he warmed up.

Golfers were on the putting green and the driving range before the Pro-Am. The course has some special qualities, like a par three on the 18th hole, that sets it apart from other venues.

"It's a unique golf course, you have a great finish with a par five 17th and a par three that can cause drama coming down to the end like the past few years."

Some of the previous tournament winners were back on the Old White Course this year including Angel Cabrera who is trying to defend his crown. The 45 year old from Argentina took the win last year in a close race with George McNeill who finished second with two strokes back. Both will join the field and vie for a piece of the $6.7 million purse.

Practice rounds continue through Wednesday, the tournament starts Thursday.
