BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - We are one week from the monumental match-up between Virginia Tech and Ohio State, it's been a year since the Hokies upset the Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium, and with the rematch looming, the hype in Blacksburg has never been higher.

Hokie's head coach Frank Beamer can't wait. "How often do you have the number one team in the country, by far, unanimous, coming to your place on national TV, the only game on, how often does that happen?"

"It's an incredible game for Virginia Tech, for Blacksburg, you got College Game Day coming, it's a Monday night game, the number one team in the country," said quarterback Michael Brewer.

The Hokie's have had some big wins in Lane Stadium, but never against the number one ranked team. But with the talent the Buckeyes are returning it will be no easy task.

"We've had our chances, I think we've played like eight times, maybe, but haven't got it done so certainly there's a challenge," said Beamer.

Buckeye's running back Ezekiel Elliott is the nations leading returning rusher, rushing for 1,878 in 2014.  Virginia Tech held him to only 32 yards rushing in their first meeting.  Their defense realizes to be successful they will have to contain him again.

"He's a great running back, I'll tell you that much. He's probably the best in the nation and I think what we did last year, was that Coach Foster came up with the great scheme it was effective and we carried it out. So I think we will do a great job this year," said defensive tackle Luther Maddy.

No one is sure what to expect from the epic meeting between these teams, except that the hype is still building.

Brewer explained it the best, "the atmosphere I can't even put into words what it's gonna be like because I've never seen Blacksburg like this. I don't know that many people have, so it's going to be, it really is going to be college football at its best."
