BLACKSBURG (WSLS SPORTS) - Virginia Tech welcomed Kenny Brooks to it's coaching family Wednesday. Brooks, a well sought after coach after his success with the JMU women's basketball team, has turned down previous offers from other schools but to him, Blacksburg is a great fit.

The seats were filled with orange and maroon to welcome the Hokie's newest coach. Brooks addressed the fan base that he was already familiar with.

"Anytime you can come and be a part of something this special, something that the community will support, I've seen that support, and I'm looking forward to it. It's what we had in Harrisonburg," said Brooks.

Coach Brooks spent 14 seasons at the helm of the James Madison women's program, leading the Dukes to 11 post season appearances, including six NCAA bids. He looks to bring that success to his new team.

"We are going to be an up-tempo style team, just to let you guys know. There are a lot of coaches out there, we don't press a lot so don't ask me to. We get after it, we play good defense."

Brooks said he's excited to call Blacksburg home, and received a standing ovation from the Hokie faithful.
