Ferrum Football Coach Speaks to Campers

BOTETOURT (WSLS 10 SPORTS) -

The Fastest Forty Speed and Strength group is hosting it's fourth annual summer camp this week.

It's designed to teach athletes from seven years old to rising high school seniors, the importance of discipline and the fundamentals of football. Ferrum head football coach Rob Grande was on hand to offer advice for the campers on Wednesday. Founder Mark Harrison says this gives players an opportunity to fine tune work in the off-season that's sometimes overlooked, such as gaining speed and leverage.

"We don't do a lot. We throw four maybe five or six things at them that are very important but trying to move a little bit you know like a little bit of agility work so that'll help them when they get into the two days or in august", said Harrison.

"Certain camps are better for others but to see what Coach Harrison is doing here with some kids is important, just fundamentals of the game", said Coach Grande.

The camp will run through Friday at New Hope Baptist Church.
