Pulaski Yankees Prep For Appalachian League Season

PULASKI (WSLS-10 SPORTS)- The Appalachian League season is about to kick off with our two Southwest Virginia entries squaring off tomorrow night in Pulaski to get the fun started.

The Yankees will host Danville tomorrow night at 7 in the opener for both teams.  On Wednesday the Pulaski Chamber of Commerce hosted an "introduce the team luncheon"

at historic Calfee park. The stadium has undergone plenty of renovations and the team is thrilled to be back in their new upgraded home.

"They made some great changes and the ballpark is fantastic. The support that we got from the fans last year was tremendous and we played well, so that's always helps. But I hope he have a pretty good fan base in Pulaski following along with outer lying towns, provide them with some good baseball games, " explains Pulaski Yankees manager Tony Franklin.

Pulaski finished with a league best 45-23 record, falling to Princeton in the Appy league playoffs.  The Greeneville Astros took home the league title last year defeating Princeton in the championship series.
