Warriors Hope to Follow Up Back-to-Back Titles

SALEM (WSLS-10 SPORTS)-  They are another of our premier programs in SW Virginia.  Magna Vista is coming off back-to-back state titles.

The Warriors are now firmly entrenched in VHSL football lore. Now comes the business of continuing the run.  This team has notched 11 or more wins in five of the last six seasons.

We caught up with Joe Favero's Warriors at Salem High for a scrimmage.   The Warriors are no strangers to trying to take on the best in the area in preparation for the season.

Coach Favero is the first to admit a whole lot of talent graduated in June, so the work will continue all season long.

"You know we lost a lot.  A whole lot of guys who just did their role too,  and that's what we can look for from the guys coming in.  You have got to go and do your job you don't have to be the player you're replacing from last year you just need to be yourself, do your job and we will be fine.  We are trying get the seniors to buy in, that this is their team and while they were on the team last year this is their turn to really leave their mark on the program their senior year and how are they going to leave our program? I think they do a good job of buying into that and trying to make sure they represent us well," says coach Joe Favero.

"It was an honor those group of guys were all really good they were really talented they all have moved on to college and did good thing so it was good cause back to back it was great," says senior linebacker Cameron Page.

The Warriors open up at Dan River on August 26th.
