No Change in Hokies Quarterback Situation

BLACKSBURG (WSLS-10 SPORTS) - Coach Justin Fuente says there still is no change in the quarterback situation.

That after freshman Josh Jackson was added to the mix last week. Jackson joined Brenden Motley and Jerod Evans in the quarterback competition in Blacksburg. Jackson hails from Michigan where he was a highly recruited dual threat quarterback. He was here for spring ball and wore #12 in the spring game--now he's wearing #17.  Jackson is the son of a football coach who threw for more than 1700 yards and 20 touchdowns, and ran for 470 and eight more scores in prep action last year.  He had a solid spring and an even better fall camp which leaves the qb position..in flux..as we approach next weekend's season opener.

"I wasn't really-- I wouldn't say surprised I've just been recently trying to get better every day and see what happens with that so not like I was surprised I was happy to hear like that my hard work has paid off and everything but Om I thought it was just cool that it happened.  Yeah I'd say since camp has started things have started to slow down over the summer we did a lot of work on plays and coverages and everything so that's helped me a lot to understand everything and be able to slow down, "explains Jackson.

Virginia Tech opens with Liberty on the third before facing a top ten Tennessee squad in Bristol on Sept 10th.
