Will Byron adjusting to XFINITY racing

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - In a sport dominated by names like Dale Junior, Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin there are up and coming young guns. One of which is 19 year old Will Byron who spent 2016 in the Camping World Truck Series.

"It's kind of been a whirlwind and just trying to take it one step at a time and try to balance everything so I really love racing it's been what my dream was since I was six years old so now I get to live that dream," Byron said.

Byron was named rookie of the year when he set a record for wins, nothing seven as part of Kyle Busch Motorsports. Now the Charlotte native is hoping to make the most of his 2017 campaign in the XFINITY series as part of JR Motorsports.

"Just getting used to more races probably ten more races than we had I the truck series so hopefully that is good for us and we can get more wins and see how it goes."

While he'll be turning laps on Saturdays Byron will be turning pages on Sunday's as he continues his education at Liberty University, who will continue to be his title sponsor.

"All my classes are online so I have to just have them done by Monday nights. So I kind of do them on Sundays since I'm not racing then so it's interesting to balance that but I feel like it's been working so far."
