Blaney considers the Penske alliance critical to his success

Wood Brothers-Penske partnership paying dividends

ROANOKE, Va. –   Ryan Blaney won his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday at Pocono. The victory was the 99th in the storied history of the Wood Brothers racing team that hails from Stuart, Virginia. Blaney explained that the alliance between the Wood Brothers and Penske Racing has made the full schedule he's currently running in the 21 car possible.

"Well, it has meant the world. I don't think this full-time schedule would be possible without the Penske group. You see, some teams have alliances these days, and I feel like we have one of the best alliances with the Penske organization and the Wood Brothers. We share a lot of information, whether that's technical side or myself and Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski, we share a lot on the driver's side. I think that is what makes teams successful, the communication and sharing of information. Now, granted you don't share everything, but just knowing that the conversation is there of what we're going to do at the racetrack this weekend and how we are going to be-it makes a big difference." Blaney said.

Blaney grew up in High Point, North Carolina about 45 minutes from Martinsville. He grew up watching his father race there, and said he's always wanted one of the grandfather clocks the winner receives in victory lane. He understands the speedway is the Wood Brothers' home track, and it would be special to get them a clock. Blaney said they'll have another shot at one in the fall during the chase and that he will do his best to get the Wood Brothers a victory there.
