Minor League Baseball teams to wear special Fourth of July caps

Cap sales will raise money for veterans

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Minor League Baseball teams will honor America while helping to raise money for a good cause over the Fourth of July weekend.

The teams will wear specially designed red, white and blue caps for games played Saturday through Tuesday.

All 160 Minor League Baseball teams will take part in the "Stars & Stripes" cap program to raise funds for Welcome Back Veterans, an organization dedicated to the needs of military personnel and their families.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Welcome Back Veterans.

“We are honored to again team with Welcome Back Veterans and assist those who have served our country through the Stars & Stripes cap program this Fourth of July weekend,” Minor League Baseball President and CEO Pat O’Conner said.

For the first time, Minor League Baseball umpires will wear red, white and blue stars and stripes-decorated caps to celebrate Independence Day during games from Saturday through Tuesday.
