LYNCHBURG, Va. –   The 2017 Virginia Commonwealth games are just days away.  Liberty University will serve as the host for the 28th annual games. The event consists of competitions in more than 50 different sports, from wrestling to archery.   This year marks the debut of the "E" games as well, as the Commonwealth games continue to offer something for everyone.

"I think personally it goes down to it's Virginia's Olympics. Everybody gets to be a part of that Olympic feel because everybody dreams when they watch the Olympics, 'I'd love to do that someday'.  This gives people an opportunity to be a part of it no matter your age or skill level you can compete for that medal," Charity Waldron, the Director of Operations and Media Relations says.

Competitions taking place this weekend include baseball, softball and karate. The opening ceremonies are slated for Friday July 21st in Lynchburg.
