Bassett High School fans keep football traditions alive
Many players on the field each Friday grew up watching from the sidelines
Bassett, Va. – Bassett High School footballs fans are keeping traditions alive generation after generation.
The Bengals new head football coach, Brandon Johnson, played for the Bassett, so he understands the family traditions well.
He says many of the players on the field Friday nights actually grew up watching from the sidelines.
“Being part of Bassett growing up and coming to high school here tailgating was huge. The fans in this community have supported Bassett football for a long time, they're very serious about their football and now I'm starting to see that on the coaching side getting all the support I've been getting,” Johnson explained.
The band director says many of his students now are the children of former band members, so Bengal pride is in the blood.
