Knights Crossing attracts hundreds
New meet record set on boys side
SALEM, Va. – Runners from more than 50 high schools and middle schools from multiple states descended on Green Hill Park Saturday morning. The two biggest races, the boys' and girls' red races are always the highlights of the event. On the girls' side, powerhouse Blacksburg lived up to expectations. Six of its seven runners finished in the top 15, including Ailene Edwards, who finished first. On the boys' side, Sam Bowers from Milton High School in Georgia, set a meet record at 15:06.02 seconds. Closer to home Nolan Harris, of Auburn, placed fourth, while William Miller, of James River, and Peter Smith, of Cave Spring, rounded out the top 10.
