Blacksburg's Cole Beck chooses Virginia Tech

He had more than 25 Division I offers to play football

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The most highly recruited prep football player in SW Virginia now has a college destination.

Beck emerged from his team's locker room in Blacksburg after a resounding win over Cave Spring, with a VT flag and "Enter Sandman" blaring.

Beck chose from a final three of Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. He had more than 25 Division I offers to play football. He also plans to run track at Virginia Tech.

Beck is also a bonafide track star.  He finished second in the 100 meters at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals track and field meet in June with a time of 10.41 seconds. 

Beck rushed for 2,156 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2016, helping Blacksburg to the VHSL Group 3A football championship. He also was the 3A state champion in the 100 and 200 meters.

The Bruins are currently 6-1 on the season. The have made the jump to Class 4 in the VHSL, and already have a victory over defending champ Salem this season.
