Virginia Tech cruises past Florida State in season-opener

Final score 24-3

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Virginia Tech cruised past Florida State in the Hokies' season-opener Monday night.

The final score was 24-3.

Josh Jackson led the Hokies with 207 yards and one touchdown, while Deondre Francois paced the Seminoles with 233 yards. 

In the first quarter, Damon Hazleton secured a touchdown for the Hokies with a 10-yard pass from quarterback Jackson with about 10 minutes left. Brian Johnson then scored a 29-yard field goal, making the score VT-10, FSU-0.

In the second quarter, with about seven minutes left, Ricky Aguayo of the Seminoles made a 22-yard field goal, bringing the score to VT-10, FSU-3. Eric Kumah then brought the score to VT-17, FSU-3 with a 3-yard return of a blocked punt with nearly four minutes left in the half. 

The game wrapped up and Virginia Tech won over Florida State, 24-3, with Josh Jackson making a 49-yard pass to Eric Kumah, securing the game.
