FINAL: University of Virginia defeats Virginia Tech, 81-59

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.FINAL

The University of Virginia defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies in Tuesday's ACC showdown, 81-59.  The top ten match-up pitted the 4th and 9th ranked teams in the nation against each other tonight in Charlottesville.  Virginia moves to 16-0, 4-0 in the ACC with a trip to Durham against top-ranked Duke coming on Saturday. The Hokies fall to 14-2, 3-1 in the conference. They travel to North Carolina next Monday night.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker was the top scorer for the Hokies with 17 points, while De'Andrew Hunter carried the Hoos with 21 points throughout the game.  Kyle Guy added 15 and Ty Jerome 14 in the Wahoos win. UVA shot a blistering 58 percent from the field, including 54 percent from 3-point range. Virginia was 13 of 24 from behind the arc.


HALFTIME

The Hokies are down 44-22 against UVA at the half. 

Ty Outlaw missed a three-point jumper for the Hokies with nine seconds left in the half. 

Virginia Tech player Justin Robinson is the top scorer for the Hokies in the first half with 7 points, while Ty Jerome is leading the Hoos with 12 points scored.
